Incense offering ceremony in celebrating the 229th anniversary of Emperor Quang Trung’s coronation and Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da victory

On November 1st (November 25th lunar calendar), the incense-offering ceremony in celebrating 229th anniversary of Emperor Quang Trung – Nguyen Hue coronation (November 25th lunar calendar) and 228th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da victory (January 5th, 1789 lunar calendar) were held in Ban mountain (An Tay ward, Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province). Attending the event were Member or Provincial Permanent Party Committee, Head of National Assembly Delegation, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho; leader representatives of departments, agencies and localities; and Hue city people.

229 years ago (1788), Emperor Nguyen Hue – Quang Trung constructed heaven and earth esplanade and held coronation ceremony in Ban Mount located in the South of Phu Xuan capital (Thuan Hoa – Hue). Emperor Nguyen Hue launched an express operation to the North to defeat Qing invader and liberated Thang Long on 1789 New Year Eve, which marked an important historical milestone in Vietnamese proud national construction and protection process.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh strongly emphasized that Thuan Hoa – Phu Xuan (Hue) had a close connection with Tay Son dynasty in Vietnamese proud history. Tay Son dynasty obtained glorious victory in late XVIII century thanks to the outstanding national hero – Emperor Nguyen Hue. In 1786, Emperor Nguyen Hue liberated Phu Xuan capital from the harsh rule of Trinh feudal group. The event opened up a new stage for Thuan Hoa people. Since then, Phu Xuan became the leadership center of Tay Son movement as well as a starting point and foundation for Emperor Nguyen Hue – Quang Trung to defeat the Northern invaders, reunify the country, remove the North (Đang Ngoai – Outer Expanse) and the South (Đang trong – Inner Expanse) division existing over 2 centuries.
The incense-offering ceremony in commemorating Emperor Nguyen Hue – Quang Trung and Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da victory express the worship and gratefulness of the Party, government and Thua Thien Hue province people to the national hero for his great merit. In addition, the event inspires the pride, educates the proud patriot tradition for today generation and descendants as well as encourages them to follow ancestor generations in national construction and protection.
