On September 22nd, a press conference was co-organized by Hue Monuments Conservation Center, Indo-pacific Prehistory Association and Institute of Archaeology – Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences to inform about “The 21st Congress of the Indo-pacific Prehistory Association” and the 53rd Archaeological Discoveries Announcement Conference 2018.
Speaking at the press conference, Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Center Phan Thanh Hai kindly informed that Hue city will host “The 21st Congress of the Indo-pacific Prehistory Association” from 23rd to 29th September, 2018 and the 53rd Archaeological Discoveries Announcement Conference 2018 from 29th to 30th September, 2018.
“The 21st Congress of the Indo-pacific Prehistory Association” (IPPA) is the world’s biggest conference on archaeology in Indo-pacific region. It is a valuable opportunity for researchers to exchange, share research information and findings as well as establish new cooperation relations. Accordingly, the congress will be officially launched on September 23rd and IPPA’s official meeting discussing issues related to the Association and Association members will be run on September 25th. On the following days, delegates will have an opportunity to observe monuments conserved over decades while visiting world heritages in Hue city.
As informed by Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Center Phan Thanh Hai, the 53rd Archaeological Discoveries Announcement Conference 2018 aims to announce new archaeological findings every year to scientists and people; disseminate and advertise new scientific issues to domestic archaeology. Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee chaired the conference. As estimated, the event will bring together about 350 delegates who are researchers on archaeology, social and natural sciences fields, culture and museum management units.
