Luxury hotel on the banks of the fabled Perfume River in Hue, Vietnam has just won a top spot on a list of the 20 Top Hotels in Southern Asia of the Readers’ Choice Awards by Conde Nast Traveler.
(TRAVPR.COM) VIETNAM – November 15th, 2016 – La Residence Hue Hotel & Spa earned a spot on a list of Southern Asia’s top hotels in this year’s Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2016, one of just four hotels in Vietnam called out for recognition.
La Residence placed No. 15 on the list, besting the likes of big-name hotels such as Fullerton Bay and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, and coming within just a few beats of the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok.
Announced in New York on Oct. 18, Condé Nast Traveler’s 29th annual compendium came together after a dramatic restructuring of the voting process. Though still reader-driven, Condé Nast took charge of its own survey this year after outsourcing the tabulation to an independent research firm in years past.
Between April 1 and July 1, more than 300,000 readers voted in competition, up from 128,000 last year. Another significant change is with the voting demographic. Last year, the median age of the Readers’ Choice Awards voter was in his late 60s. This year, she’s in her late 40s.
Though La Residence won a No. 13 spot last year, the hotel was not competing against hotels from Singapore and Bangkok on last year’s list. This year it was.
“That readers who’ve experienced some of Bangkok’s and Singapore’s finest hotels hold us in as high or higher esteem is a thrilling development,” said Phan Trong Minh, general manager of La Residence.
The Readers’ Choice Awards and Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards are widely considered to be the two most important awards lists for hotels worldwide.
About La Residence Hue Hotel & Spa – MGallery by Sofitel
Set on a two-hectare site with 200 meters of frontage on the fabled Perfume River, La Residence celebrated its grand opening in December 2005 after a painstaking restoration of the 1930-built mansion. The hotel’s distinctive bowed façade, its long horizontal lines and nautical flourishes are hallmarks of the streamline moderne school of art deco architecture.
The hotel’s 122 rooms and suites, restaurants, lounges, bars and conference room are tricked out in complementary art-deco furnishings and décor that evoke both the 1920s and 1950s. The hotel’s fine-dining venue, Le Parfum, serves Mediterranean and French cuisine, as well as dishes from an expansive Vietnamese menu.
