In celebrating the Grand 2563rd Lord Buddha’s Birthday held in Ha Nam province (Tam Chuc Buddhist Cultural Center, Ba Sao townlet, Kim Bang district), the Organizer of Lord Buddha’s Birthday in Thua Thien Hue province solemnly organized a ceremony to lighten up 7 lotus flowers on Huong river on May 5th, 2019 (the 1st day of the fourth lunar month).
The solemn ceremony held on Huong river always leaves special impression on Hue locals. Having appeared on 12 Lord Buddha’s Birthday seasons, the 7 lotus flowers on Huong river have become the tradition of annual Lord Buddha’s Birthday as well as the symbol of Hue Lord Buddha’s Birthday.
Each 24-petal flower weights nearly 300kg. Its diameter and height is 7,6m and 3,7m, respectively. The total weight of the 7 flowers is 1,5 ton. The 7 lotus flowers are made from pink silk and iron frame. Each of the lotus flowers is placed on a floating base which is about 150m from each other. As informed, each flower is installed with an electricity generator to ensure power and avoid affecting other vehicles.
While the 7 lotus were lightened up, art performances performed by artists, singers, musicians from Hue Music Academy and Buddhist followers took place.
