According to Hue Monument Conservation Center, domestic visitors will enjoy free admission to Hue heritage sites during first three days of Lunar New Year. In addition, various activities will also be organized to create joyful atmosphere and serve visitors.
As informed by Director of Hue Monument Conservation Center Phan Thanh Hai, “The Cay Neu (Neu pole) erecting ceremony” and “Huong xua banh tet” art program taken placed at 9:00 am on the 23rd of the 12th month of lunar calendar at The Mieu Temple will kick off activities in celebrating 2018 Lunar New Year occasion.
The Cay Neu (Neu pole) erecting ceremony will be held on the 23rd of the 12th lunar calendar at The Mieu Temple (from 9:00 am) and Long An palace (from 10:00 am). As a traditional and important ritual of Nguyen dynasty on Lunar New Year occasion, the ceremony not only covers folk spirit concept but also indicates that Tet holiday is coming.
After the Neu Pole erecting ceremony is held at Long An palace, “Huong xua banh tet” art program will take place in Te Buu house. The program will help reenact traditional lunar Tet holiday through Hue singing performance, royal and folk games, calligraphy performance, especially Chung cake and Tet cake making competition, etc.
During first three days of Lunar New Year (February 16th – February 18th, 2018), domestic visitors are allowed to visit Hue heritage sites for free. Several activities will be organized to celebrate Lunar New Year Eve by Hue Monument Conservation Center such as ancient rituals reenactment, court music performance, art program entitled “Royal music” (Am sac hoang cung), lion dance, royal and folk games, traditional martial arts performance, etc.
According to Tourism Department of Thua Thien Hue province, the number of tourist coming to Hue increases dramatically in the first month of 2018. In detail, province welcomed 339.393 turns of tourist in January 2018. The number of tourist increases 48% compared to the same period of previous year. In particular, Hue heritage sites welcomed over 302.000 turns of tourist in January 2018. Of all, there are 262.000 international tourists which accounts for 85% and marks an increase of 47% compared to the same period of 2017. Total collected revenue is over VND 34 billion. This increase is an encouraging sign as well as a powerful motivation that enables Tourism Department of Thua Thien Hue province to welcome 4-4,2 million turns of tourist in 2018.
