According to Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee, the total number of tourist arrival to Thua Thien Hue province in first four months of 2018 is 1.884,4 thousand including 757,82 thousand international tourists, up 12,7%.
The total number of accomodated tourist is 745,7 thousand, up 16,17%. This is a pretty rapid growth compared to same period years ago. Herein, the number of tourist stays overnight is 667,9 thousand, up 15,99%. Of all, international tourists is 367,7, up 22,69%. The revenue of accommodation units is VND 557,1 billion, which is an increase of 13,92% compared to the same period last year.
The highlight of Thua Thien Hue tourism in first 4 months of 2018 is Hue Festival 2018 held from April 27th to May 2nd, 2018. On this occasion, many impressive art programs presenting multicultural colors were organized. Festivities created new image and new vitality for the ancient capital. Under the theme “Cultural heritage with integration and development; Hue – One destination, five world heritages”, Hue Festival 2018 brought together spectacular art programs imbued with typical cultural regions in Vietnam and the world. It is an opportunity to advertise Hue as the city of culture, heritage, festival as well as a special tourism city in Vietnam. On this occasion, traditional art and culture quintessences, Hue royal culture were introduced to domestic and international friends. In addition, high quality traditional and temporary art programs from Vietnam and 19 countries were also showcased.
Hue Festival 2018 brought together 1.400 professional artists (including 388 artists from 24 international art troupes and nearly 1.000 domestic artists), thousands of artist and exist participating in other activities. Within 6-day event, there were 38 typical art programs (80 stages), colorful festivals and nearly 50 community activities held in 17 stages. Main programs and festivals attracted thousands of spectators such as opening ceremony, closing ceremony, “Van hien kinh ky” (Culture of the capital city), “Sac mau van hoa” (Culutral colors) street parade, “Am vong song Huong” (Echoes of the Perfume river) art program, Trinh Cong Son music concert, “Hue vang son” (Glorious Hue) Aodai show, National Hat Chau Van (spiritual singing) festival, etc as well as stages at Citadel, An Dinh palace and public stages in Hue city. Besides, activities in celebrating Hue Festival attracted a large number of spectators such as “Cho que ngay hoi” – Rural market on festive days (220.000 arrivals); International Trade Fair (100.000 arrivals); “Huong xua lang co” – the soul of an ancient village (10.000 arrivals); International Gastronomy Festival (300.000 arrivals); “Childhood colors” Festival (5000 arrivals), etc.
