Training workshop: technology transfer in Vietnam – the situation and looking forward to the future

On May 28th, 2018, the training workshop themed “Technology transfer in Vietnam – the situation and looking forward to the future” was held by Hue University. Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong attended the event.

This is the third workshop organized within the framework of “Vietnamese European Knowledge and Technology Transfer Education Consortium” (VETEC) project.

VETEC is a three-year-long project sponsored by EACEA-EU. It aims to create an ecosystem for start-up and technology transfer; enhance education capacity in knowledge and technology transfer (KTT) at three universities in Vietnam; connect international KTT capacity among European – Vietnamese universities as well as access to innovation and international enterprises.

The three Vietnamese universities participate in the project are Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Hue University (HU) and Can Tho Univerity (CTU). The three European partners are Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), Dresden University of Technology (Germany) and Aveiro University (Portugal).

Speaking at the training workshop, Hue University Director Nguyen Quang Linh hoped that delegates attending workshop will help indicate reasons as well as recommend suitable solutions to KTT situation in Vietnam through lecturers and discussion sessions organized within workshop program. Also, Director Nguyen Quang Linh believed that Vietnamese staff will learn a lot about international KTT from presenters of European universities.

On behalf of Thua Thien Hue province’s leaders, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong highly appreciated achievements; the close coordination among Hue University, departments, agencies, science and technology organizations, enterprises; effort of the staff working in research, management, science and technology application in province in the past time. In addition, Vice Chairman hoped that Hue university, institutions and academies will continue to closely cooperate with Thua Thien Hue province; establish mutual relationship among researchers, managers and enterprises; solve obstacles in technology research and transfer to better serve local socio-economic development demand and allow science, technology to become top national policy as well as a decisive motivation in implementing annual and long-term plans; make Thua Thien Hue province become country-wide science and technology center.

The training workshop will take place in two weeks (May 28th – June 8th, 2018).
