On August 25th, I-on Health Cup Cycle Race was co-organized by Culture and Sport Department, Trails of Indochina Company Limited, HueWaco and K’Event Anh Khoa One Member Company Limited. Attending the event were Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Bui Thanh Ha, leaders of relevant departments and agencies, sponsors and nearly 400 athletes from 29 domestic and international clubs.
Male athletes were divided into 3 age groups i.e. 18-39 years old, 40-50 years old, 51 years old and older, while female athletes were divided into 18-36 years old, 37 years old and older. The race was kicked off at Pavilion of Edicts and held in circular track. Joining in 24,8 and 43 km distance, athletes made 6 and 10 laps respectively around Phu Xuan – Da Vien bridge. Each lap is 4,3 km.
In spite of being an amateur cycle race, I-on Health Cup attracted many professional athletes, for example, Mai Cong Hieu, Nguyen Nam Cuc, Nguyen Hoang Sang, Phi Hung, etc. Therefore, the race fiercely took place with pretty high speed i.e. up to 50km/h at some laps.
After 4 hours, the first prize of 18-49 age group went to Doan Van Hoang from Cat Viet Thai club; the first prize of 40-50 age group belonged to Mai Cong Hieu from Cat Viet Thai club; the first prize of 51 and older age group went to Mr. Pham Hung Phi from Binh Minh club Ho Chi Minh city.
On August 26th, Coupe de Hue cycle race will also be taken place in Hue city. The 138-kilometer race was divided into 4 sections. Coupe de Hue cycle race will appear in International Cycling Union’s official competition system in 2019
